Matthew Betts
Head Coach
Matthew Betts With 17 years of baseball coaching experience, Is Owner and Head coach. Matthew has coached all ages from t-ball to varsity baseball, with great success. This includes two 2nd place district awards, One district championship and a 2nd at the Colorado State Little League Tournament. Matthew has been on the local youth baseball board for 13 years, holding the positions of Coaching Coordinator, Vice President and 2023 & 2024 as the League President.
Andrew Laymon
Sport Performance coach
Andrew Laymon will build the workout routines for our athletes. Andrew has a long history in Cortez with baseball and soccer, culminating in a 5A 2nd team all-conference as well as a spot in the All-state baseball game. He has since gone on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Strength and Conditioning and is working on his Masters in Exercise Physiology form California State University, Fullerton. His understanding of the biomechanics of sports will help guide the proper lifting workouts for our athletes to peak at their season.
Cameron Schafer
Volleyball coach
Cameron Schafer has had a passion for volleyball since she can remember and has played the sport for 13 years. Cameron played as a libero and defensive specialist but has knowledge of all positions on the court. She also had the opportunity to play in a state-qualifying team. She has coached for 2 years and has loved every moment and athlete she has had. Cameron’s favorite part about coaching is that she not only gets to coach youth, but she also learns from them as well. Cameron is also involved in the opening of Sand Canyon Therapy where she serves her community as a case manager. If Cameron is not working or coaching, she is with her friends, family, and dogs going on all types of adventures!
